Join the International Relations Program Alumni Association (IRPAA) for a special Ottawa Trinity Alumni Get-Together, bringing together alumni and friends of the IR community.

Hosted by Hélène Emorine (TRIN ’18) and Tea Vasha (Woodsworth ’21), the event will begin with a short discussion featuring Tricia Geddes (TRIN ’97), Jennifer Irish (TRIN ’85), and Lynn McDonald (TRIN ’91), followed by an opportunity to connect and catch up with fellow alumni.

Speakers

Tricia Geddes ’97 was appointed Deputy Minister of Public Safety Canada effective October 31, 2024. As Deputy, Ms. Geddes supports both the Minister of Public Safety and the Minister of Emergency Preparedness. She oversees the Department’s advice and services to both Ministers on a broad range of issues spanning the public safety portfolio, including national security, emergency management, corrections, border security and combating crime. Jennifer Irish ’85 is an accomplished former Canadian diplomat, having served in senior roles at Global Affairs Canada, including in postings to Israel and Cyprus, the UN in both New York and Geneva, Cuba and Mexico.  She is also a former national security and intelligence executive, currently serving as a Program Director at uOttawa Telfer Executive Programs, where she leads its security and intelligence programming. Concurrently, she is Principal of Pendulum Geopolitical Risk Analysis and lead for its information integrity practice — building on her experience as the Founding Director of uOttawa’s Information Integrity Lab, advancing the understanding, analysis and mitigation of disinformation, misinformation and foreign influence operations.

Lynn McDonald ’91 is an accomplished Canadian trade and legal expert with extensive experience in international diplomacy and trade policy, having held senior roles at Global Affairs Canada. She most recently served as Director of the Intellectual Property Trade Policy Division, where she led negotiations on intellectual property provisions in Canada’s bilateral and multilateral trade agreements. Her international experience includes postings in Geneva, Washington, D.C., and Hong Kong, where she served as Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner, advancing Canada’s trade and economic interests abroad.
